Indoor heating can push humidity down to 20–30%, while many tropical plants are happiest around 40–60%. Crispy edges on ferns and calatheas are usually the first sign.
- A small humidifier near your plants. By far the most effective option.
- Grouping plants together. Each one releases a little moisture, and the group shares it.
- A pebble tray with water. It helps a bit, right around the pot.
- Misting. It feels nice, but the effect only lasts minutes.
Also keep plants away from heat vents and radiators. That hot, dry air is hard on leaves.
